Attention Atlantic Canadian journalists! The Atlantic Journalism Awards, Atlantic Canada’s premier event to recognize local Atlantic Canadian journalism, are back for their 45th year and you’re all invited to enter your best work from 2025. Entries will open on March 1, 2026, and close at 11:59 p.m. NL time, 11:29 p.m. Atlantic, on Saturday March 21, 2026. That gives you five weeks to get your entries ready. Don’t procrastinate!
Entry is only open to staff, freelance or contract journalists based in Atlantic Canada or publications or broadcast outlets based in Atlantic Canada. This can be print media, online media, radio and TV.
The content must be about an Atlantic Canadian event or issue and must have been published in Atlantic Canada. Content created by journalists based outside of Atlantic Canada is not eligible.
Individuals may enter their own work, or a media organisation may enter on behalf of their journalists. Entries may be in French or English.
We’ve been able to keep the price of entries stable at $65, as they have been for many, many years, because we know money is tight, especially for the dwindling number of journalists in our industry.
See our new, updated and evolving website for details on categories and entry instructions at ajawards.org
Also, please feel free to send us questions, suggestions about our website or volunteer to be a judge. We want you to be part of us as well.
More details are coming soon on the actual date of the June awards event and location.
